I arrived long before sunrise and just watched the immense motion underway. Soon I was in awe of the power of nature and quickly concluded that wanted to create an image that displayed motion, power, fire, and uncertainty.

Read MoreWe left Reykjavik under heavy clouds after an incredible windy and stormy night. On our drive into the Highlands, we passed through every weather system that mother nature could offer us. It was not long until we began to see fresh snow on the mountain tops. I must admit, I started thinking COLD however, I knew that the change in weather would bring wonderful shooting opportunities. Everyone was in awe of the dramatic landscapes we passed through as we started the final climb into the Highlands of Iceland. Are you guys ready to push some buttons? I really didn’t have to ask.

He was a very stoic Chimpanzee, totally at ease when were around him. When I arrived this trip, the Rangers told me that we had a new President.
Read MoreWith the exception of Lake Manyara’s tree-climbing lions, these big cats don’t usually attempt to climb trees without low hanging and/or easily navigable branches. Their sheer weight, and lack of specific shoulder muscles, makes serious tree climbing more difficult for lions than other big cats, such as leopards.

Another location that you should not journey to under high surf conditions or high tide is the rocky outreach north of Ke’ee Beach. Again, I undertook this location in hopes of getting some great high wave images, but not without first taking a hard look at the ocean state and weather.

The city is built on stilts to keep the buildings above the permafrost layers and it's so far north, it's home to the world’s northernmost commercial airport, ATM, post office, museum, and university.After three days of travel, I have finally arrived at Longyearbyen where I will overnight. They call it the land of the midnight sun; it’s blazingly bright at 0100, I know I will definitely be sleeping on the plane at the end of the trip.
Read MoreFor those of you that think global warming is nonsense, you really need to think again. Our object today was to photograph the inside of an Ice Cave, something I had been looking forward to for some time. The temperature at the entrance was what we would normally expect in the summer months, 6 degrees C. Higher than normal temperature means lots of thawing, rain vs. snow means lots of water. At the end of the day, the entrance was simply to dangerous to enter. Unstable roof area, falling rocks, raging water....get the picture.

With difficult weather and high wind waves, access to some of the more desirable locations was not possible. Thanks to a young photographer who joined me, we landed a location for a sunrise.
