It's About
Photography — Lots of it!
This workshop will be very informal and fun.
Throughout this safari, Randy will be shooting along side of you.
He will be sharing not only his passion for photography, but his
technical skills that have contributed to many of his award winning
photographs. He will discuss
and demonstrate lots of techniques including the use of high dynamic
range photography, long lens techniques, panning to convey motion, the
use of neutral density filters, and a number of landscape tips.
Should time allow at the end of the day, Randy will be available
to review images of the day and demonstrate various processing
techniques.
This workshop is about shooting. Lots of shooting. There will be no
classroom sessions, no lectures, no slide shows, and most importantly,
no unnecessary egos. We will all work closely together, sharing our
knowledge and experience.
Because of the unique location of this workshop, and the luxury
accommodations at Mara Plains Camp, this workshop adventure is open to
non-photographer as well as
photographers. Even non-photographers will find the locales visited and
the wildlife viewing opportunities to be thrilling. The cost for
non-photographers is the same as for active participants.
Working on the private Olare Orok Conservancy Area,
we will make the most of a private and restricted access areas with very
few vehicles. Unlike other
safaris, if we find something of interest or a developing situation, we
will have the ability to ‘stay on station’ with little to no
interference from other vehicles.
This dwell time often means the difference between an outstanding
shot or a missed opportunity.

We will also make time to visit a nearby working Maasi
village where you can witness first hand the lifestyles of the 'People
of the Mara'.
The use of specially designed vehicles will allow us
to shoot three photographers to a vehicle (one non-photographer can also
be accommodated per vehicle), ensuring that we have plenty of room to
manage our equipment with lots of elbow room.
